P.H.A.S.E.

For my worksite health promotion class our big project of the semester was to create a marketing agency, find a target audience, and market a program to them on a certain health topic. So for the past few weeks my team, PHASE (Promoting Health And Serving Employees), has been developing a campiagn to promote our program. Tonight was the big pitch night, and our team did great! We performed a little skit and showed a commercial we made and everything turned out SUPER! Our professor loved it and we even tied for the best campaign! Great job PHASE team! Man does it feel good to gave it done!

Nintendo Wii success!

Last week I waited in line for several hours to be one of the lucky recipients of a Nintendo Wii! This system is pretty sweet, but I must admit, I was only in it for the money. As soon as I brought it home, I put it on ebay hoping to sell it for a little profit. Well after three whole days there was NOT ONE bid on it! I had pretty much given up on the thought of making money, but with three minutes left I HAD A BID! Yesssss! One bid, but that was fine with me! I made about $100 off of it, so it was all worth my time.

Christmas Time!

Wow I can't believe its already that time of year, but Christmas is just around the corner! This year sure has gone by fast...they all seem to though I guess, especially when they're coming to an end. Now that Thanksgiving is past, the Christmas shopping season is on! Since I'm working in retail, I've been able to experience what this really means. There are some crazy shoppers out there! If you weren't one to wake up at the crack of dawn (or way before) and still have some shopping to do, then good luck hitting those sales and dont lose site of what Christmas really is! JESUS CHRIST! So next time your waiting in that long line, or you get irritated because you can't find the perfect gift, just remember... in the big picture all those details are nothing compared to the life that Christ lived for us and the sacrifices He made, right from the first Christmas day!

Thanksgiving!

Last week I had a great time with my family during Thanksgiving break. We've made it a tradition of spending our break at this little cabin near a lake. It was great to have some quality family time without any distractions or obligations...just us! We ate a ton and played a lot of card games, and my brother and I even beat the cabin record for solving a puzzle the quickest. 8 minutes...oh yeah! (Good job Stevo!) Of course break went by way to fast, but before I know it Christmas break will be here and that will be even better I'm sure!

Antonio, The worlds greatest impressionist

WOW! Ha-ha what a funny and....weird? …video! In case you did not recognize him, the crazy "catfish" guy in this video is none other than PayPerPost celebrity Ted, who was also the "fat kid" on his video testimonial! From fat, asparagus eating, kid to...super impressive catfish! You are truly amazing Ted. Actually, to be completely honest, I expected a little more, something…fishier. I mean there is a lot to carry with the title of “Antonio, The worlds greatest impressionist” and I understand that, I’m sure you have a lot of pressure. Its ok though Ted/Antonio, you were still pretty impressive and came out with a decent video...just better luck next time. ;)

Just under 2 days left!

Ok all you Play Station 3 fans...your day is almost here finally. If you haven't yet heard, Sony will be releasing the new Play Station 3 this Friday the 17th. This will be one of those majorly wanted items, so if you don't plan on waiting in line all night then I would suggest checking out ebay the day after because once the line is gone, so will the PS3 until the next shipment (which probably won't be until after the new year!) Why people will spend so much on a system is beyond me, but they do! The PS3 is very neat i will admit, but there are already people reserving their game on Ebay for over $1,200! My oh my. Well, if you are one of the determined buyers in line...good luck and stay warm!

How to take care of a goldfish...

Ok, so I'm definitely not known for being able to keep fish around very long...but earlier this week I gave a "speech" in during a dorm activity about taking care of a goldfish. I actually learned a lot, so hopefully I will be able to keep my next fish around longer! Here are some instructions I learned... feed your fish about twice a day, just enough for it to eat in about 15 minutes (a few flakes). When you clean the water, leave a cup of tap water out over night to get it room temp. then empty only 1/3 of the water and fill it back up with the new water. Also, when cleaning the bowl, use water and salt. So hopefully with these tips, you can make your goldfish a lifelong pet! (Or at least one thats around more than a couple days!)

Purpose Driven Life

Rick Warren's book, The Purpose Driven Life, is really a great one to check out. It includes 40 chapters (intended to be read in 40 days) that help you discover God's purpose for your life and how we are to live for Him. I started reading this book last year, and really enjoyed it. It gave me some much needed insight into my life and really encouraged me to work on my relationship with God. For some reason though, I stopped reading it before I completely finished it. So, I've just started re-reading it from the start today. Even though I've read most of the chapters already, I know it will be helpful and encouraging to go through them again. So I'm excited to get started again and I'm sure I will be writting more updates about my readings!

Postie patrol 2

Well, the guys over at PayPerPost are still at it! They have officially completed their second Postie Patrol visit! This time around, the postie was a Florida resident and was given 3 options to make some cash! He chose a race against Ted for 200 dollars! This is not a normal foot race. They raced to see who could finish an entire large pizza first! Fortunately for the Postie and unfortunately for ted, the Postie won and recieved 200 dollars! As always, the PPP guys offered this as one of their excellent paying blog ads. PPP rocks, and you all are missin out if you haven't joined yet!

games games games!

Okay, with the much anticipated release of the PS3, we have a problem. We have to decide what games to buy! ahhh! This is gonna be tough. I am looking to get a game that truly compliments the power of the PS3! For any of you who may be having this same dilemma, I suggest Resistance: the fall of man, Fight Night 3, and Ridge Racer 7!

Proactive

Proactive is a great product to try to keep your skin clear and fresh looking. I have never had a problem with bad acne, but I have tried proactive as a skin care regimen to help keep my skin clear from those small breakouts. It did keep my skin clear and made it very smooth, but it also caused it to be irritated and itchy because of the benzoyl peroxide it contains. So if you have sensitive skin just be careful when using it and of course stop if you have problems. But other wise, if you are looking for an acne product to keep your skin clear, I think this is a great one to try.

School can be so frustrating!

It was recently Midterm time at my University. Around the time of Midterm, the great folks at the VP's office send out these cute little pink papers that are anything but exciting to recieve. I personally got one for the first time:( The slip shows the classes that aren't getting satisfactory grades:( I was very depressed to recieve this slip. It showed that I had 4 classes that aren't going so great. I wont say what the grades were, but they weren't good. 2 of them were just mishaps (I hadn't taken the midterm tests yet). But I am still nervous and stressed all the time!

Classes, Classes, Classes!

Wow...I can't believe we're already in the second half of the semester! These last few months have gone by SUPER fast! I just transfered this year to the University of Northern Iowa, and so far I love it. I miss my friends and some parts of my old school, but it has been a really good change for me. I've already learned so much that I don't think I would have learned if I didn't make the change. My classes aren't too bad for the most part, a little overwhelming at times, but I'm still enjoying them. I just need to keep up on my work for another month or so and then my first semester here will already be done!

Lose the Race, Lose your Ride

This post sponsored by Speedtv.com! If you haven't had the chance to see Pinks you are really missing out! I am really impressed by the pure idea of the show. The show is based on the idea that if you lose the race, you lose your car! well good news! If you are a fan or just want the chance to see the show, there will be an all day marathon of PINKS followed by the premiere of PINKS All Out on Speedtv on Nov 23rd! It promises to be a great day! I love this show! I will say that part of the reason I love the show is that the bald host graduated from my university! Sorry, that is pretty exciting for a small town person! You can see some great Drag Racing Clips from Pinks on the Speedtv website!

Lipozene

The Obesity Research Institute LLC has developed a new weight loss product called Lipozene. I saw this product on the internet, but you may have also seen it on TV. Lipozene is a supplement that offers a quick and easy way to lose weight. From what I’ve read, it contains Glucomannan, which is basically a fiber supplement. Glucomannan may bind with and hinder the absorption of certain nutrients. So it is probably a good idea to use a high quality multi-vitamin when using this product. Studies have suggested that using this ingredient is a viable way to lose weight. So if you are looking for an easy way to lose some pounds lipozene may be a suitable option to look into. It would however, be much cheaper and still easy to just add fiber into your diet and you may get the same results.

Contacts vs. Surgery

According to Fox News' Dr. Manny Alvarez, there is a new report which says LASIK surgery to correct eyesight is actually safer than wearing contacts.  This surgery cuts back the cornea around the eye and reshapes it to correct your vision.  So far, this surgery has proved to be very successful and have little risk.

Working Retail

Working in a retail store really forces you to be self-disciplined. I had to work at Aeropostale today and man is it hard to resist buying something with that lovely employee discount we get. Before I started there I thought, ‘oh it won’t be that bad! I’m pretty disciplined with my money and won’t have a problem resisting all the clothes’…but it is a lot harder than I thought. I think I’ve done really well though…so far I’ve only made a few purchases. It’s just that I have a talk myself out of it every time I work! =) oh well…it’s good discipline I guess.

Ted's Confessional

Ted is an important part of PayPerPost who didn’t let his weight discourage him from missing out on football, instead he turned to
asparagus...kind of....and got through!

Sorry to hear about your "fat kid" experience Ted! Ted is I don't personally know what it is like to be the fat kid but I’m sure it would be rough. Kids can be brutal! First of all though, Ted, don’t stress because from the video you don’t even look fat. But it’s true everyone needs to exercise whether they’re trying to lose weight or not and with a busy schedule it can be hard to get to a gym…so here are some things to try instead!
1. park your car towards the end of the lot (but be smart and don’t if you’re in a really shady looking area of if there are people who seem to be following you)
2. take the stairs instead of the elevator
3. have a couple of canned goods in your desk to use for weights when you have some down time (don’t worry, dumbbells would work to if you have them)
4. do leg lifts on your desk chair
5. take part of your lunch break to go on a short walk

My Trip...

Well I've been writing about my California trip for the last week...and now it has already come and gone. My mom and I just got back early yesterday morning. We had such a great time. We had a jammed packed weekend full of wonderful food, catching up with family, a serious game of family soccer, a trip to Santa Cruz…and several other events that made our trip another fun and special memory!
